Blisters, blisters we want blisters!!!! GOOOO LIZ
Okay how am I going to do it? That is the question I first asked myself when I heard about the Avon 3-Day walk. 60 miles is just plain crazy!! It is a huge commitment to make and will take a lot of inner stregnth, not to mention some really good walking shoes. This is a personal goal for me, as well as a chance to help create awareness, and raise money for all the women who have not yet been diagnosed, those who have survived it, those we have all lost, and those women who are dealing with the reality right now.
Breast Cancer is the main cause of death in women ages 40-55. Let me say that again. Breast Cancer is the MAIN cause of death in women ages 40-55. In 2001 aprox. 192,000 women were diagnosed and more than 40,000 will die. Over one million women in the United States have Breast Cancer. That is huge!! Why don't we do something about this? I am doing the Avon 3-day Breast Cancer walk in Florida. Yes Florida is hot, and the weather in April can be very unpredictable. But, it will be well worth it. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to fund access to care and find a cure. We need to help those with undiagnosed Breast Cancer find out in the early stages. The walk starts in Boca Raton, and will end in Miami. That is 72 hours and 60 miles away. I have always been more of a runner, but the thought of 60 miles in three days is almost like three marathons back to back to back. Isn't that INCREDIBLE? I am getting the chance to meet some wonderful people, chat and exercise at the same time, and make memories of a life time. All while taking that step in helping find a cure for Breast Cancer. I am very excited, overwhelmed, and happy about my commitment. Please take time to sign my guestbook, drop me an email or make a donation. I will be updating my page as much as possible with interesting sites, links and progress of my training. AND REMEMBER OUR GOAL IS TO FIND A CURE! DON'T FORGET TO SIGN MY GUESTBOOK!!! fun facts about walking: for most healthy people, walking increases bone density walking has a low injury rate, so it is a great way to lose weight, and it also improves cell sensitivity to insulin which prevents weight gain and obesity Arthur Blessitt- The World's Longest Walk as listed in the Guinness Book of Records Now 292 NATIONS, 34,800 MILES 32 YEARS and still WALKING!
